Nothing beats a professional treatment under the care of professionals who know what’s best for your body and your beauty. But you can’t spend every day at the spa, which is why it’s important to institute a home-care regimen to fill in the gaps.
The following tips will help you extend each pro treatment and protect your hair, nails, face, and body between visits, so you can maintain beauty and tranquility all year round.
First and foremost, avoid the temptation to dye your hair at home or attempt other do-it-yourself salon treatments. (This means you, home Brazilian blowout.) Improper techniques can damage your hair forever, so don’t do it! Instead, deep-condition your hair with either a salon product or with coconut oil once a week. Try not to wash your hair too often. Once every three days should be enough.
Eyes and Lips
To keep eyes firm instead of puffy, and lips smooth instead of chapped, there’s nothing more important than proper hydration. Drink plenty of water or herbal tea, and eat lots of fruits and veggies. Vitamins A, C, and others are crucial for replenishing lips’ moisture and eyes’ brightness. Dealing with extra puffiness? Try a few chilled, peeled, sliced cucumbers over your eyes for 15 to 20 minutes.
Face, Neck, and Body
Use a collagen-based lotion on your face, neck, and body every morning and night. This natural protein is found everywhere in the body, from bones to skin to the digestive tract. The role of collagen is to bind structures together, strengthening cells, firming skin, and reducing the appearance of cellulite or wrinkles. In addition to external doses, you can take it internally as well, in the form of bone broth.
Hands and Feet
If you maintain a regular mani-pedi routine every two to three weeks, then in between visits you don’t need to do anything but apply some nail-strengthening oil to your cuticles and emerging nail beds. If you wait longer than that, you should remove your polish with a non-acetone remover and trim your cuticles. If possible, let your nails breathe rather than immediately reapplying polish.
As good as a home care routine that you may come up with, it’s important to see the pros regularly. Haircuts, facials, nail care and body scrubs should all be administered professionally at least a few times a year, or as often as you can. In the meantime, enjoy spa-like home bliss.
